Teeth Whitening Aftercare — Protecting Your New Shade
Whitened enamel is temporarily more porous — the first 48 hours decide how well your new shade sets.
First 48 hours (the white-diet window)
- Avoid everything that stains: coffee & tea, tomato-based sauces, sodas, candies, turmeric-heavy food, red wine, paan
- If you must have coffee or tea, use a straw and rinse with water after
- No tobacco in any form
- Skip coloured mouthwashes and coloured toothpaste for now
Days 1–3 (sensitivity care)
- Mild sensitivity is normal and passes — use a sensitivity toothpaste twice daily
- Avoid very hot and very cold drinks for a couple of days
- Brush with a soft brush, non-abrasive toothpaste, gentle pressure
Keeping the result
- Drink water frequently; rinse after staining food and drink
- Limit acidic drinks — they open enamel to stains
- Keep six-monthly cleanings; polish maintains brightness
- Whitening is not permanent — plan an occasional touch-up rather than chasing 'lifetime' promises
Call us promptly if you notice
- Sharp sensitivity lasting beyond 3–4 days
- Gum irritation or white patches on gums that don't settle within a day or two
- Uneven blotchy patches that persist beyond 48 hours (early patchiness is normal and evens out)
